Positioned on the Wall
Dear Esthers,
The biblical new year has begun, and with it comes a fresh invitation: not to run faster or carry more, but to take your place on the wall. In Habakkuk’s words, a watchtower is where we stand alert, away from the noise, waiting for the Lord to speak. It is not about seeing everything; it is about being faithful to what He assigns you.
“I will climb up to my watchtower and stand at my guardpost. There I will wait to see what the Lord says…” (Habakkuk 2:1 NLT)
Every daughter of God has a watchtower. For some, it is the home interceding for children, guarding marriages, and covering family salvation. For others, it may stretch into ministry, the workplace, or the community. But the call is not to assume every wall, nor to take burdens that God has not given. A watchman’s authority flows from assignment. To step into another’s station is to strain under a weight that isn’t yours.
Esther’s strength was not in trying to fight every battle in Persia. It was in standing watch over the one God gave her: her people. Positioned near the throne, she listened, discerned, and acted at the appointed time. In the same way, God is not asking you to do everything in this new year. He is asking you to be faithful in your portion.
Beloved, this is not the season to drift through days unaware, but neither is it the season to collapse under unnecessary loads. The watchtower is not a place of burnout; it is a place of clarity. As you climb, you rise above distraction and see with a new perspective. And as you stand, you learn to trust that your post is enough because God Himself is watching over the whole wall.
Take courage. Take your place. And let the Spirit show you where your watch begins.
